I only know of one person that has had no side effects at all from it.

Everyone else I know (around 20 people) including myself has had nothing but serious trouble with them

Citalopram worked great for my anxiety. I feel better than I've ever felt. I did gain 20lbs and I've never struggled with weigh before.

hi christina i starten on my medication sunday before last so it could be early days, readig about it on here but it seems intolerable, what about you when did you start?

I on day 5 with CIT.I lost weight because I have no appetite, feel sick stressed and worried maybe I have a different health prob.I never had a healty appetite i think because of anxiety and stress but now is worse

I am on day 5.Feel sick, no appetite, worried about my health,take sleeping tabets at night.Plus hot flushes palpitations hearthburn tickling in my chest

Hi Cristina, I'm on day 14, and I do feel better, it's really difficult in the 1st week, but have faith and stick with it, it will get better.

Hi Cristina,

I look at my side effects, with help from my Doc and everyone here, as a positive to healing me, otherwise worrying just doesn't help!

What side effects? I have had nausea, a slight drop in appetite, feeling spaced, freaky, buzzing in the ears, raised anxiety, multiple dreams (some dark and vivid), overactive thoughts (some bad). Had aches and pains in various places The ups are getting more often as now in 4th month and on 30mg however, each down is accompanied with being lethargic and wanting to go to sleep, I went to bed the other night at 8pm and woke at 06:45. One thing cita has done is to inhibit my emotions which means I do not cry! I get a small wave of emotion which has gone as soon as it starts, whereas before I would have cried e.g. like watching "It's a Wonderful Life!" at Christmas and sat through it the first time in decades without a single tear drop!

Libido is affected too, which I am told will return (hopefully!)

In closing, all I will suggest is that you try and climb aboard the surf board and ride the wave(s), because no matter how they turn out, it'll be worth it and then you can always help others. Remember it could be a long ride though!

Cristina we all have some side effects. Mine are grit my teath. And low sex appetite .that's all so not to bad been on 30 mg for 12 months

To be honest sex appetite is the last thing I am worried about.Just want to feel better.I know everyone has side effects but sometimes I feel I got the worst ones

I didn't have any other side effects other than weight gain. It did take awhile to get in my system enough to I felt sane and normal again.

Hi Tara, it is nice to know that some people have little side effects and it does exactly what it says on the tine - as they say!

I stopped taking them after a month as they were killing me. Had a nightmare couple of months of withdrawal but now I'm fine
