Hi
Very New to this group and just wrote a post where spell check changed every citalopram reference to a different word!
Anyway, I've been on cit before for 14 months, came of last December, and have been back on it for 5 weeks - today marks the start of week 6. Began on 20, which was the dose I was on before, and now moved up to 30.
Seems to be taking longer to work this time. I recognise that this is partly due to my levels of anxiety being higher this time.
The cit seemed to be working and then my anxiety focussed on insomnia and the past couple of weeks have been bad. Had to call 111 this weekend and have been put on temazapam, 20 mg.
I really just want some supportive comments to help me get through this. I have surgery coming up in July which will put me in early menopause and this is where a lot of the anxiety is coming from. I am having counselling, eating well, have started a mindfulness meditation routine but at the moment don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.
Thanks
Hi Rachel, have you tried acupuncture? I did all the things you are doing but also went to a Doctor specialising in Chinese medicine and acupuncture for nervous disorders. Between it all, I now feel I'm the person I'm meant to be. Good luck
Hi, I was on 10mg for 18 months when I stopped I couldn't cope so went back on them. I'm on my 6th week too and don't really feel any better. I need to be on a higher dose I'm sure but the doctor won't let me because I get really bad nausea and acid reflux. I'm also convinced they are making my ears ring x
Well done Rachael . Without wishing to be nosey .. But why were you taken off Cit I have been on it for two years now... Am much better but afraid to come off them...
I thought I would be fine without them. My regret over that decision now is very strong though I try not to think about it. Cit worked so very well for me, 2014 was a really good year, practically no anxiety and slept wonderfully.
Just want them to start working again. Want to sleep again.
Hi Rachel. I too am going through menopause so yes a lot of our anxiety is from that. I get hot flashes too, which I was told the cit will help with that. I'm into my 6 th. Week and starting, maybe to feel some better on 10 mg I sure hope mine is kicking in. They all say give it time, it'll be a great thing, just hang in there.
