Citalopram withdrawl - back to square one?

Hi,

I am recently 'off' citalopram having been taking it for many years. I was on a 60mg dose then 40, 20 and reduced to none recently. I am having recurring thoughts, preoccupied with looking for a way out, drinking myself to an alcoholic end or just giving up on life entirely.

I don't really want to go back on to the meds as I live abroad and don't have medical care or enough pills left to go back on.

Does anyone know if these symptoms are normal, will they pass?

I don't know where to turn.

Thanks for any help

Hi, why have you come off it?

I was finding that things were going better for me. I stopped drinking worked a 12 step programme, got fit, meditation and ate well. I felt like I wanted to live without medication and see if would improve my libido too.

Alas, I feel back to where I always was

There are some of us who need on going medication like my mother needed insulin everyday. Its a condition like any other its just hard for us and others to accept it.

Have you had a review with GP? Hope you came off Citalopram slowly.

Take care
