Hi, Finally got an appointment to see a doctor. (Changed practices) so took a bit longer. She advised various things including going back on medication and recommended Citalopram. I have been on this before a few years back when my anxiety was bad. I don't recall many side effects but this time my anxiety seems so much worse. The first night I took it I didn't sleep and had panic attacks in the night and it has carried on from there. Is it possible for the side effects to set in so quickly? And how long before they reduce, any thoughts would be helpful.
Replyed to you on your other thread.
Hi you need to be very careful with these drugs I had an allergic reaction to Sertraline and then was kept awake all night by the next one partly bcause GP did not tell me you need to take it in am not pm I cannot trust my GP'S as they keep messing up I rang out of hours service they were very knowlegeable good luck
I agree about Drs they are not mental health specialists but my new one seemed quite helpful. Been to the out of hours GP who also was very helpful
After 3 weeks taking Citalopram 30 mg I am seeing some great improvements. The side effects are gone, anxiety is starting to disappear, I can finally breath normally. Depression is getting milder. I am so happy I succeeded to go through some great pains during two weeks of very scary side effects. I am sleeping better and longer hours. I go and visit a Counsellor once a week. I use relaxing essential oils and run on my trail mill about 2.5 miles for 45'. All the very best to you.
Hello MGuerret I am pleased that you are now getting the benefit of Citalopram. It is worth persevering with the initial side effects. Thou it may not suit everyone. I manage on the lower dose of 10mg and my panic attacks have gone and anxiety is lowered and manageable. Keep strong.
Best wishes.
Elizabeth.
Hi,
I was put on Citalapram, I took one tablet and my anxiety levels rocketed within a day. After 4 hours I was being violently sick - I didn't take anymore as advised by our of hours GP. I have lots of friends who they have worked really well for though x
