So....I haven't been on the site for quite a while, and thought that my health anxiety was under control....apparently that's not the case. I was cleaning my shower yesterday afternoon with a cleanser that contains bleach...while I was using it, my eyes felt irritated and the smell was very strong...I left the room as soon as I was done (probably no more than three or four minutes), but could still smell the bleach in my nose (if that makes sense). I did have the window open and the exhaust fan on, but now I'm totally freaking out thinking that I have poisoned myself. My throat feels scratchy and my nose feels irritated (although I did have cold/allergy symptoms already)....of course, I consulted Dr. Google and now I'm convinced that I've done permanent and serious damage to my respiratory system. Anyone been in a similar situation? I had a full-blown panic attack during the night and am having difficulty calming down today.
I too have health anxiety so I can understand exactly where you're coming from.
However i very much doubt the bleach caused you any harm. Bleach is my best friend, I wash everything in bleach , my sponges, sink, shower, toilet, floor. I've gotten bleach on my skin before and bleach does have a very strong smell and you are hyper vigilant to every little thing.
I was similar yesterday when I watched a film to do with eye sight and then started obsessing over being blind which I haven't done in a long time.
Anyway, try to stay calm, have a nice relaxing Sunday, put your feet up, read a book or go out in the fresh air & do not Google anything! Google is just ridiculous. Earlier I looked up what the main artery in the neck is called because I forgot , asked Google and all that came up was things to do with stroke & I all I did was ask for the name of the artery lol
Hope you feel better soon xx
If I cleaned today & did what you did.. I'd b freaking out too lol but that's how I am.. Worry too much which causes stress & anxiety.. I'm more then sure you did no damage .. I think you have to b constantly using those to get really sick from it.. Next time use nose mask & gloves but there is all natural stuff too with no harsh chemicals.. The smell is just that strong because that too has happened to me.. Honestly if you suffer from anxiety just remember it's your anxiety making you "think negative" you'll b okay & honestly I should b telling myself this but DO NOT Google anything lol.. It only shows the negative stuff.. Trust me googles bad lol
HI. I'm the same too. I worry about chemicals/food/drink everything. Some days worse than others. Yesterday. I was stirring a hot pan and a bit of the stew splashed my face but i was convinced i would go blind, I ate a bacon sandwich that tasted a bit funny and had to throw it away as i thought i would get food poisoning. I don't know if it helps to know that there are others the same? It does for me a bit With anxiety, we just tend to think of the worst possble scenario instead of a rational, balanced view. Its all about control and how we can't always control what happens to us or our bodies or even our minds. Its difficult but we're all still here!! Hope you are feeling a bit calmer now. xx
