Clob upkeep

Hello,

I have been diagnosed with L's in Aug 2015. I had a period of remission from any symptoms for about 6 months. Most recently i started having sex again and i was hotribly swollen and red for days.

My specialist told me to only use clob when needed. Should i not be using the ointment every week ? I m very confused. I stopping using it fot about 6 months but have started using it again.

I should mention that i am 26 years old.

I would really aporeciate some advice ! Thnks.

Hi Nicole, I have always used clob or a lesser steroid cream as maintenance a couple to 3 times a week when in remission. . I was told this by my gyny who said it would just return if I left it. Certainly after sex I make sure I shower straight after using epederm and apply clob as I am swollen and itchy if not. This seems to settle things down for me. Hope this helps - Jo x

I use Clobetasol twice a day for several years and I'm doing good . I'm 75 ànd so thankful I didn't get this when I was young and raising my children . The computer says it is caused when a virus attacks the immune system . Just something else to deal with . Thankful it's not worse .

Hi Nicole,

Steroids have side effects.  Some of us can't tolerate them, but get along quite nicely without them by using the baking soda baths, oils, sodium borate, etc.--All the things the wonderful women have shared on this site. In my opinion and experience, the less steroids  you use, the better, so I"d follow your doctor's advice and only use the clob when needed.  All it does is manage the symptoms.  It doesn't cure you.
