I'm just about to start on Regabalin - 150mg for GAD. I also take Venlafaxine - 300mg (anti-depressant), Amisulpride - 200mg (anti-psychotic), Lacosamide (anti-epileptic) - 200mg. I also suffer from a mood disorder, Peronality disorder, intrussive thoughts, epilepsy and ME. Anyway, given the cocktail I am on do you think Pregablin is a good addition. I think the Amislpride caused my epilepsy so keen to get off of that.

I don't think pregabalin is a good addition to anyone or anything.
It is a horrible toxic drug that is terrible to be on and worse to get off.
It causes irrepairable damage.
Research it before you decide to take it.

Thanks for the reply. I have read some negative comments but also high praise. I know lots of people hate Venlafaxine that I am on but it has been great for me. The Amisulpride I am on has been much more mixed and I think it caused my epilepsy which is quite a severe side effect! What damage are you referring to? I know some people believe the drug has damaged their memory and brain function. I am supposed to start on the tablets this evening.

I know it is good for some people but not the majority.
The side effects i got while on it were blurred vision, spots in my vision, loss of memory, my eyes swelled up, my hands, feet and some of my legs swelled up, i began to find random bruises, inability to sleep, tiredness during the day, muscle loss, headaches, joint and muscle aches and pains, confusion, jaw and teeth aches, weight gain (and i was walking my dog six and more hours per day!).
I stopped taking it and still have some of these problems, and it's been over three years now. Some "symptoms" will never go away because the agents they use in the drug kills off your nerve endings so you don't feel the pain, but the nerves and other areas pregabalin destroys never repair themselves.
I found a random side effects sheet for you, but it lists only some of what this drug actually does.
Side Effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, difficulty concentrating, swollen arms/legs, and weight gain may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any unlikely but serious side effects, including: blurred vision, unusual bleeding/bruising, unsteadiness, confusion, muscle pain/tenderness/weakness (especially if you are tired or have a fever), swelling of hands/legs/feet, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine).
A small number of people who take anticonvulsants for any condition (such as seizure, bipolar disorder, pain) may experience depression, suicidal thoughts/attempts, or other mental/mood problems. Tell your doctor right away if you or your family/caregiver notice any unusual/sudden changes in your mood, thoughts, or behavior including signs of depression, suicidal thoughts/attempts, thoughts about harming yourself.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
There is SO much information about this drug out there now that people are beginning to realise how bad it actually is.

Wow, that was a detailed reply, thanks for spending so much time. Sorry that you have had such a rought time with this drug. I am at work so can't take long but I have tried the medication now, one dose last night and another this morning. Other than feeling a bit 'high' this morning I have been fine so far. I will try it out for a couple of weeks to see how I get on. I then have another psychiatrist appointment so I can make changes as we see fit. My psychiatrist is very good at taking my feelings and worries into account. After the high this morning I am starting to crash a bit but I think the highs only last a few days - pitty. Hope the initial side effects are not too bad as I am in Israel in a weeks time for work and need to be relatively with it.

OK, day 2 and no side effects today. Unfortunately no high Anyway early indications are that I will tolerate this med OK. No change to anxiety yet but too early to tell, takes a couple of weeks to take effect.

I'm glad you're doing okay on it, but just remember that after a while the effects will fade and you will probably find you'll need a higher dose. it's seems to happen to everyone who takes it. If that happens, and as i said, it happens to most, don't go down that road because it'll cause you more grief than relief.

Hi , i have been on Pregabalin for approx 12 months , have had no side effects , no problem an i also take Venlafaxine plus other daily medication , never have had side effects with medication , i look at the leaflet given with medication each time i am prescribe a new tablet , i have never turned down a tablet that has been suggested for me as i want to try it for myself , rather then listen to horror stories , i will know myself once i have taken it for a while if it suits my body an mind , take care an make a note of any niggles / problems you have experienced with a new tablet an let your GP know , if you are fine then just see if it helps your health issues xx
