Cocodamol not always addictive

I have been taking cocodamol 30/500 for about 10years and have never been addicted to them, so I have been really surprised how many people have become addicted to them in the discussion groups. I normally only take 2 twice a day but when the pain is bad I take them 4 times a day.the packet says every four hours not more than 8 per day which actually means f you need to take them regularly it would be every 5 hours eg 7am, 12 noon, 5pm and 10pm. Or an hour later for each. Even in the early days when I had to take 2 four times per day, I never took them more than four times a day. On occasions when they have not worked, I have been back to the gP and have been given a prescription to use as well asor instead of such as tramadol or amitryptiline. Am I fortunate or is their a reason why I have never got addicted to these tablets when other people have?

Hello gill. There is_some research that some peoples genetic makeup prevents them from either not having any relief from cocodamol and others do not become addicted. My sister in law is like you. She does not get the craving or withdrawal symptoms.

Hi, gill. I have no addiction to co codamol, I take it for sever arthritis in my spine neck ect, I also suffer with Crohn's disease, it depends on the intake I think!!! I take 2 or four a day, as the pain is so sever, some days Im not able to walk because it gets that bad.in now my GP has prescribed me morphine...but not on a daily basis I take it,  take care. :-)

Hi Gill the answer to that is your lucky the different meducujes affect people in different ways I have a question I had a large tooth taken out Mon and only thing that goes anywhere near pain for me is 30/500 strength co codamol how long do these work internally at keeping pain at bay?

In my experience max of 5 hours but if the starting level is severe it could only be 3-4 hours

You are very lucky! You don't have to be

taking loads at a time to become addicted or

just taking them for the euphoria effect!

People get addicted for taking them for

legitimate pain....like myself! I have severe

back problems due to two botched

epidurals and was only taking 2 every six hours but it gradually crept up to a huge

amounts!

I've noticed this threw was over a year ago

but was wondering how you have got on?
