So my cold sores are crusting and i am not reslly sure what to do next. Whenever my lips get wet (when drinking water) the crusts fall off..then the following day its back to crusting. Are the crusts suppose to look like hard blood? Abd what ointment or cream can i use to speed up the healing. This is my first time gettibg cold sores and being diagnosed for hsv 1. Any advice?
Try using abrava which you can get from any pharmacy. Its supposed to speed up recovery, And to solve the drinking problem. Try drinking from straws.
Can i use petroleum jelly?

I have hsv1 too. I was diagnosed in june and I haven't had any outbreaks since my initail outbreak.
I used Acyclovir cream on my sore together with Acyclovir tablets. That sped up the recovery and the sore was gone after about 5 days.
I don't think petroleum jelly will help in this case as I don't think it has the necessary elements to help the sore to heal
