College Student with Depression

Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with depression while being away at college? I just returned to school last week as a sophomore.  I am living on a different part of campus around different people so I feel very lost. My “friends” and roommate at school don’t know about my depression and other health issues that I went through this summer and how much it affected me. I also don't have any friends from back home that know either or that I'm even in contact with recently. How do I get through this very challenging time?  I feel like transferring right now….and I have only been back here for nine days.

you will be ok you just feel a bit issolated at the moment as your pritty much alone,you need to get out and do a bit of exersise and meet people as well,you dont want to go down the route of anti depressents yet realy but that is somthing you could think about if the exersise dosent work,let me know how you get on,if you need advice message me and i will help the best i can

 

okay....yes it is just very overwhelming right now. I unfortunately am not able to “exercise” the way I would like to due to health problems. And I am currently on anti depressants. Thanks for the tip though

Hi Rah,  I know you probably don't believe this but there are probably a lot of students who feel the same way.  Depression could even set on just by school starting.

Make an effort to try and socialize. Join a volunteer group at school or try and get a part time job. Try and put yourself in situations to make friends and have social contact.
