I had the colonoscopy today with the sedatio option. It was uncomfortable with the inflation of the colon with air. This was very incomfortable and caused pressure under my rib cage and I had some difficulty breathing at times. The procedure was quick and soon over and done with. However it took me several hours to get rid of the gas. I know it's very necessary for the procedure but quite sore afterwards. The moviprep probably contributed to all the gas as well !!!!!
I wish you well and very happy Christmas X
Thank you fiona, I'm sorry it was so uncomfortable for you.
I went this week to chat with the nurse for the pre assessment and she advised me that pain is caused by trapped wind and to allow it to blow free whenever necessary.
We shall see, only another 3 weeks.
All the Best, lissa.
Hi Fiona
I'm sorry you had discomfort. I had my first colonosopy recently to diagnose for ulcerative colitis and opted for sedation and gas. I found it not too bad but uncomfortable round the bendy bits!! (Lissa make sure you breathe as much gas you can it helps with this part.)
However the worst part for me was not the diet they give you or the procedure itself but the picolax eugh!! (50+ trips to the loo this doesn't normally happen but I reacted to it as my colon is inflammed).
You will be fine Lissa but the Colonoscopy staff Dept were brilliant in sorting this problem out.
Merry Xmas to you both. Good luck Lissa and I hope you get sorted soon. They told me my results on the day roughly what they found.
