I had a colonoscopy Thursday [ April 7]. I waiting for my results. I felt no pain, went home took my dog for a walk. That,s how good I felt.
Hope I can do the same next week. So anxious
Brave and lucky you are. I am teribely afraid of colonoscopy sedation. Therfore I keep postponing the colonoscopy. The dr said that they use propophol as a sedative
I am sure you will do fine xxx
Hi Did you have any sedation? I got my results the same day as the procedures.
Cathy, I don't know where you are, but the colonoscopy i had they gave me something that put me to sleep. When I woke up I was ready to go home. I know different people has different feelings. I hope this helps but I am 63 years old. All I can say is good luck. GOD BE WITH YOU Joe J.
They gave me something to make me go to sleep. They said it will be a couple days before Iget them.
In the Uk a small amount of sedation is offered but a lot of people do not bother at all.
Hi, try and be brave and have it done. If I can do it without any sort of sedation/painkillers then anyone can do it. Can you not decline the sedative, just so that you are in full control.
I am in California and in my city they only use propophol.
I asked them million times but they declined my concerns. I changed 8 specialists that might get one that would listen to me but none did.
What about sedative free? I have heard in america that many Dr;s refuse to do it unless you are sedated. x
That's what I was telling you. They don't do it unless your are completely out.
The american way puzzles me/makes me curious - why everyone has to be sedated for the procedure? My consultant actually advised me that he likes his patients awake, if possible, so they can co operate - that suited me as I am so like you (the thought of sedation scares me).
It's either thier way or high way. I've changed 8 specialists to see if I can do it without sedation and I could find none that would do it for me.
I am guessing it is so that they can get through you quicker and dont have to worry too much about hurting you - I do really feel for you to be in this position x
I know and thank you. I'm just hoping that I can convince my self to do it before it's to late😔
Beacuse it's been two years that this pain is not going away.
The only thing I can do is send you a hug from the UK and the advice I was given, eat often and light, take apple cider vinegar and take peppermint and plenty of painkillers/ Good luck x
I live in North Carolina
It does seem to be the norm in the USA for sedation, I did mine (both ends) and then a second run through of the bowel due to an equipment failure without any medication (apart from entinox when the turns happend). I am not a hero or trying to be clever, I was terrified and still am of the procedure but the motivation I had was tremendous. I hope your results are all good. x
