HI, I’m getting a colonoscopy on Friday at 9am due to bowel issues for a few years now.. I’m scared of the whole process since it’s my first colonoscopy..What should I expect and also how should I prepare for it? Thank you!

You dont need to worry at all! You will be sleeping and will not notice anything at all. Afterwards also no pain or nothing.
When it comes to preperation, just follow your doctors instructions. Get the liquid as explained and remove whatever you have in your bowel, otherwise, doc will not have clean view and it would be repeated. So you should be very careful to make sure you follow preperation process. No food no drinks in the morning.
Actually, wors part of colonoscopy is preperation day, rest is easy. Hope it will come all come clean...

I agree with ekin, the worst part by FAR is the prep, otherwise once that is out of the way it is all down hill from there.
I agree with ekin the worst part is the evening before when taking the liquid and thats only because you spend most of the evening on the toilet. The actual colonoscopy doesn't hurt and after at our hospital you were given tea and biscuits. All the best and try not to worry
Hi Marilyn, at least you only have to have 1! I must have another 1. Have nothing to eat or drink before it. You need to take some really gentle bottom wipes with you and treat yourself to something nice afterwards. I have to have biopsies too and I don't know what they're like!
