Hello all. I've been on 200mg of Sertraline (Zoloft) for around 3 years now. Starting at the lowest dose and increasing gradually over time. I'm at a point now where I feel like it's time to come off now. I know that I need to come off very slowly to avoid any withdrawal symptoms. Anyone with any experience? My plan is this; 175mg for a week 150mg for a week 125mg for a week 100mg for a week 75mg for a week 50mg for a week 25mg for a week Then 25mg every other day for a week Then 25mg every 3 days for a week or 2 Then stop completely. Does this sound gradual enough? Or would it be better to drop the dose for 2 weeks at a time instead of one? (I will speak to my doctor when I can eventually get an appointment!) To add. I haven't taken any for 2 days now (purely through forgetting). I know that Sertraline leaves the system very quickly. But again, I know I can't do this too quickly. So should I go back to starting at 200mg, or lower the dose to start at 150mg as it will have already partly left my system? Thanks for reading!
I came off sertraline fine within a couple of months but was only at 50mg. Even so, my head felt spacey for two months afterwards.
It’s hard to say if your accelerated plan works. It might. I think you should give yourself much more time. Honestly, I’d triple the time spent in each category. If you’re one of those people who have more problems than most, then you might have to go to smaller increments by crushing your pills or do the liquid version.
