coming off of HRT

After being on HRT for the last 6 - 7 years I have decided to now come off it and see how my body will cope. I took my last tab about 5 weeks ago and all seemed to be going well up until last weekend when I noticed I was getting very bad pains in my hips, feeling very sore and stiff and becoming quite painful. I was just wondering if any one else had anything like this after stopping HRT? I like to keep fit and active and walk at least 25 miles a week so really dont want to stop doing that!

My aunt, who is 77, decided to wean herself off hrt and suffers badly now with body aches and pains and fatigue. She is now going back to her GP to ask for a further Hrt prescription.  Why suffer when you can feel so much better when taking Hrt.  If you are fit and healthy, good diet etc, I would stay on hrt for life.  The pros outweigh the cons.

Lynn, you said your decided to come off HRT to see how your body coped.  I think you have your answer. many women have pain when they hit natural menopause  and their body no longer makes enough estrogen/progesterone to satisfy their needs.  This pain many be temporary, and then again, it may be your body signaling it's need.  But yes, women can and do have symptoms from coming off HRT.  Estrogen is an anti inflammatory.
