Compressed vertebrae fracture ..advice

My elderly mother have several years of pain has just been diagnosed with a compressed fracture of one of her spinal vertebraes. Due to her existing medication for other issues her GP has said he can not give her any stronger medication than Co-Codamol. I was wondering if a heat wrap may help with the pain,or is this likely to be a bad idea?

Yes it may help. Heat can help relax the muscles which may have gone into spasm to protect the fracture.Make sure its not too hot. The last thing you want is to burn the skin. These fractures can take a long time to heal. The next pain killing option may be a low dose of Amitriptyline, but many people dont like taking this because of side effects.

Thank you very much
