CONCERNED

Please do not shoot the Messenger.

I am getting very concerned when answering contributing on site with the number of contributors visiting Google for their Health Concerns. The problem with that site it can explain and diagnose very quickly from a general Health to a major life or death changing illness. I do understand how Anxiety and the sensitivity of sufferers fears. I do wish I could help more to make you understand, most illness is minimal  where people can treat conditions quite easily with visits to a chemist or if required a chat with your GP. Your GP is there not only there to treat your health problem, He is also there to suggest medications that are issued at a chemist without prescription, (Over Counter).

Most people can also feel that every time they visit Surgery they should be given a prescription for there things like a cold, these can be treated by a visit to a chemist, not only are medications possibly cheaper it is also beneficial you do not visit a doctor for a cold and pass it on to all and sundry in the Surgery. This is a small issue I mention although other more in your face problems can initially be treated at home.

One major problem is a suspected Brain Tumor, generally yes you go for tests, that is it.

Many tests can effect your health and when the tests are repeated again and again can cause some quite serious side effects. Above are just two examples a minor part of extensive concerns.

May I suggest you try NHS CHOICES, they give flow diagrams of health conditions, these charts start with minor concerns right through to the prognosis where proactive treatment is given. The flow diagrams used properly can take you to the level of health complaint. You do not continue further up the health pathway passed the information box and you follow the information given in that box. Hopefully this will help many here to understand their body and help you help yourself.

I was lucky in a way I went on various NHS Patient Courses to help me converse with the Medical Profession. The Course name was Professional Patient, it also helped in explaining medical concerns.

Please try not to feel I am not trying to be unresponsive to your concerns. It is all to do with helping people get more out of their GP and surgery. Also understand your Surgery has nurses and on many occasions they can also perform tests on patients at the behest of your GP
