Confession of a Really Dumb Mistake

I never EVER EVER should have gone back to taking Prozac (just 10 mg) ...for the 3rd time. Never had trouble going off of it... but omg, THIS time, after being on it for ONLY 6 days and feeling horrid, Doc said to stop. OK... Day 1 was ok...beginning 2nd day I started in progressively feeling So awful emotionally and physically ...even though this is only Day 4 of quitting... I don't think I've ever felt worse... I had heard it was one of THEEEE worst drugs to come off of...now I know why they say that (and yet others have no trouble, I know, and I'm glad for them) Since I can't turn back the hands of time my only thing is to LEARN from it not to make the same stupid mistake.

If your Drs give you a choice ... maybe toss this around before saying yes to Prozac, ok? OK.

Only 6 days

Its unlikely you would have bad withdrawal after such a short time.

Are you sure you haven't been on other medication prior to the Prozac which may be affecting your system or maybe youre still getting the start up side effects. Its 25 days to completely eliminate Fluoxetine but a week should see you over the worst.

Actually Prozac is one of the easiest to withdraw from for most people because of it's very long half-life. Seroxat & the SNRIs are much tougher.

Funny how meds effect people differently.

Prozac was like a sugar pill to me even at high doses.

Nope, Steve I'm not taking any other drug.... I've been some better today...It is true that different drugs can affect people SO differently...Anyway, best wishes to you and thank you for taking the time to reply.

Betty

Hi Betty, I struggled on then off this drug, I lasted 3 weeks on it, it then took 3 weeks for the worse symptoms to go, I then spoke to my gp as my sleep has been affected. He said that once the drug is out of your system you brain needs to readjust again. Good luck, hope you feel better soon
