So I'm still in the pain of a two month on off flare up. I have tried a dairy and gluten free diet which has totally sorted my stools out. I no longer have d. I go once in the morning and that's it compared to when I was going 3-4 times a day. The problem is I still have the burning sensations? I've also noticed I am getting terrible ulcers in the mouth to the point one has infected my gum. So now not only am I on sertraline I have a week's worth of anti biotics. My question is can you still have ibs if your bowels seem to be normal?

Your treatments and diet seems to work for you, hopefully you will be able to control your IBS
Does your GP know what has caused your Gum Problems, what does He suggest when you complete your course of Antibiotics
Have you considered getting yourself down to a Dentist. Make an appointment especially if you have not been in the dentist chair for over a year, Ulcers may be able to cause further gum problems and extractions If not looked at

This doesn't quite describe IBS, hmm it sounds like something is going on but what it is I have no idea_ you'll have to take what your doctor gave you. I hope you get better.
IBS means that your bowels can change from diarrhoea, constipation or normal. Remember you have changed your diet which has improved your stools. Your IBS may be going into remission which will improve your stools. Try antacids to help the stomach burning, Try ulcer preparations from your chemist. I have IBS and my bowels are normal just now because I am in remission.
HI how are you getting on with your antidepressant, what mg are you on
Hi, borderriever. When I explained about my gum problems it was dismissed. I have read that certain stomach disorders can cause ulcers and other mouth issues. I have some implants so it's quite important I get these sorted quickly. Have seen my dentist and said to take the biotics and clean well. I didn't think to ask if implants can cause abdominal disorders.
Thank Sam, I have been referred to have a camera down to see if anything shows. It's just hard to accept its ibs. I suppose if you knew exactly what pain others are feeling you'd know.
Pippa, I'm having good days when I don't feel any pain then other days when the pain is intense. Surely it can't be a mind thing. Sometimes I can be very stressed and its fine, then very relaxed like of a weekend and it flares up.
Hi Mrs Susan. I'm on 50mg. I haven't noticed a real affect yet. They were prescribed to calm my anxiety thus helping my IBS (if it is IBS) but I'm still getting pains.

I do not have implants I could not put up with the procedure as I get stressed out at the dentist, they have to Sedate me. I only have twelve teeth now and put up with a Denture.
I do know they need to be ultra clean while working on implants, they may have put something on your gums and that has cause problems over the short term. Change your toothbrush and follow their instructions
Good Luck

This is characteristic of IBS which can play on your mind.
