Confused on results for HSV

I need help with my results as i have little faith in my nurse.
I have had cold sores since a child. I recently had a new sexual partner in February.
Below is a timeline:
2/15: new partner
2/27: had a cold sore that lasted a week
3/11: I got tested for everything

IgG came back positive for HSV-1 and negative for HSV-2
IgM came back reactive at .92 (normal is under .89)

Everything I read says different things about each test. My nurse said the IgM was positive from my cold sore but then hesitated when I said I didnt have one at the time if the test but 2 weeks prior.
I have no sores and have had none…I do feel discomfort, almost like the first signs of a yeast infection thats been that way for weeks. When dr did swabs she saw nothing concerning
I plan to retest after 3 months but would love peace of mind if i am ok.
Thank you!

IGM Herpes test has a high false positive rate of about 50 percent. It’s the worst herpes test available. If you have any sores or bumps it’s best to get them swabbed. However, if there are no symptoms opt for the IGG test but be mindful that the best accuracy is 3+ months. Since you have a new sex partner you have to unfortunately wait for your body to create the antibodies if you in fact do. The waiting period is the absolute worst. Best of luck.

what are you testing for? are you concerned you might have contracted hsv 2? IgM testing cant differentiate between HSV 1/2. Usually IgM shows up for a new infection but can be positive during an outbreak and it can stay in your system for a month so if you had a cold sore 2 weeks prior it could still show up as positive.

You can ask your partner to get tested for both or you can wait a few weeks to get tested again and confirm if you have hsv 2.
