Hello.
I have constant acid reflux, I'm on omprezole for it but some weeks it doesn't work and i have horrible burning and pain and can't breathe properly. The doctor justs shoves pills at me but I want to know why I'm not getting better? I'm scared I could get cancer due to this as it says acid reflux can increase your chances of cancer. Anyone else been through this?
Either double up on your Omeprazole
or ask your dr to give you something
else. Protonix is a good prescription PPI. U can also take an H2 Blocker Zantac Pepcid Tagamet just don't take them at the same time as the Omeprazole. Take the H2 30 to 60 before meals and at bedtime. U might need an EgD(endoscopy) Goodluck
Hi Samantha,
There are lots of us out there suffering.
I have chest pain/heartburn everyday and like you I worry about the consequences.
My best advice to you is to keep on mithering your Doctor, ask to see a specialist.
This forum has helped me - talking to other people who know what you are going through.
Best wishes,
Lynne
As others have said the dose may not be enough and an other PPI may work better for you. I take Lanzoprozle but 30mg dose as 15 doesn't do it for me. Its back to the GP and get them to change your med.
Your diet is also very important as that can trigger the reflux. Last night I wentout and the soft drink I ordered at the bar woke me up in the middle of the night. Normally I am fine but I can only assume they mixed it a bit differently. Its a constant journey of discovery.
