Constant flu-ish feeling

does anyone else feel constantly flu-ish when they have a flare up?  It never develops into anything more, but I have this almost feverish feeling feeling in my head together with the normal aches and fatigue and it can go on for a couple of weeks.

Yes Becky, I have flu like symptoms on and off. Mine come and go every few days to be honest since this all started last September. I have taken my temperature when this happens and it is only raised very slighlty but I always feel awful.

Thanks Julie. Always helps to hear someone else has similar symptoms.  I've had this symptom for years, not continuously but whenever I have a flare up. But each time I think it might be something else.....it sometimes stays for about three weeks then just disappears again. Sort of feel like staying in bed, then feel guilty because I don't think Im ill enough........just such a nuisance never feeling really well though.

Yes I do..I always get all the symptoms of the flu, even a temperature..but it's just the Fibro ....be blessed....if only there was a comprehensive list of what symptoms we might get...mmmmm, now wouldn't that just take our stress away..be blessed:-) xx

Thanks. As long as it's just the Fibro I'll grin and bear it.  Just nice to know that others have the same symptoms.  Puts my mind at rest anyway.  The less I have to stress about the better!

I never feel well either Becky. I have to force myself to get out of bed. Today, I don't have a temperature thankfully but that could all change tomorrow. I'm seeing the rheumatologist on Thursday. He actually specialises in FM. I'm going to ask him is this part of it ( temperature) etc. I also suffer from high blood pressure now since this happened. Is that part of it too?

I'd be interested to hear what your rheumatologist has to say Julie, especially about the flu feelings.  I too have had high BP but never put it down to the Fibro. There seem to be no end to the symptoms but I do worry about putting everything down to that, in case it's a symptom of something more serious and I'm ignoring it.

I've got a list to ask him on Thursday Becky. I was told by my GP that the high BP is due to FM. But as you say they can put everything down to FM and possibly ignore something that may be potentially serious. I will keep you posted as to what he says. My FM hasn't stopped since September so i don't know if it will go away as I have seen that people gets' flare ups' Mine seems constant.

I'd be interested to hear what he has to say too Julie, wil be patiently waiting to see what he thinks..:-) xx

Yes I get flu like symtoms which last about a week or more sometimes.  I tend to feel rough all the time and then even worse sometimes it's a good day when I just feel OK ish xx

Thank you for replying to my post.  I think I almost feel a bit better just knowing we're sharing these symptoms.

Know exactly what you mean Becky...:-) xxx

I think this may be what's happening to me now, I have more wrong than fb so it becomes difficult to know if there is something new going on. This last week or so I've felt worse than normal and it does feel a little like flu but isn't developing into anything. I'm basically going to wait for it to pass, hoping it doesn't take too long!

Becky, I seem to have almost permanent flu-like symptoms. I no longer know which symptom is hormonal, or CFS or fibro or arthritis. I wake up in the night in so much pain I sometimes cannot move my body. I also suffer high blood pressure and because it was dangerously high, I have been on propanalol 160mgs for 2 years now xx

From my own experience this flu-ish feeling can last from a few days to several weeks. But it always goes away eventually and never gets any worse.  Just a nuisance!

You have my sympathies.  Must be awful to have pain at night.  I'm trying my hardest to do everything I can to make myself healthier.  Not easy! When I feel like this, eating is a comfort and I really really don't feel like the exercise.  Nice that we can support each other though. And it does give me the encouragement to persevere.

Bit more than a nuisance I have just had a bad week after going to a wedding last Saturday which we had to travel a long way for.  Enjoyed the weekend away but then have been practically house bound for5 days and also felt Soo sick with it wasn't actually sick but the feeling is really bad.  Anyway on the mend now so hoping to get out a bit this week. Xx

I understand completely.  I tell myself that life must go on but sometimes I feel like staying in bed for a week and letting it get on without me!

Yes it's important and helpful to have each other so we can also share our fun times (like falling OUT the bath) with bad moments. Inside my mind I still want to be the energetic crazy fun loving 30something year old I once was. No more going down slides or sitting on swings for me - I would break them lol

That's interesting Kathleen, I've been worse since driving a long way back from holiday last week. It would seem to be linked, I thought it might be from getting cold and wet for days while away, could be both I suppose!
