I have had this issue for a few years now (I am 19), and if anything it's getting worse. My Fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulders, neck, jaw and sometimes knees. Are always in a lot of discomfort. I feel the need to constantly crack all of them, like 1-3 every 10 minutes. They feel really tense if I don't. The more I use the joints the worse the feeling gets. My whole body cracks and grinds with any movement. Is this any concern, what can I do to prevent this from happening, it's destroying quality of life.
i would suggest that you practice some somatic movements starting with a soma to allow your body to sense where you are holding tight muscles. You have created a habitual movement that you do unconsciously and just contracting all the time cracking thinking that that will release but it just adds to being more painful.
The question is Why do you do this? How & what created this habit.? What is the cause? Anxiety?Trauma, stress or injury?
My take would be SMA (sensory motor amnesia) this is where your brain has simply forgotten thru your habit how to lengthen those muscles and as the body works in patterns they may be compensating throughout. This can all be reversed to get back natural movements release stress etc theough mindful movement using the brain and the CNS (central nervous system). I am a somatic movement educating coach and this is what I would suggest. hope this helps.
Hi John56362,
I’m experiencing the exact same symptoms that you mentioned above. I wonder if you figure out what was the reason? Have you checked your vitamin D and calcium level?
