Constant neadles and pins down my right leg

Hi i had a hip replacement in January this year and i am having constant needles and pins from hip to toes its driving me nuts spoke to consultant about it was told it was not coming from the hip its my back i do duffer with a bad back but this is different altogether they don’t want to know any one got any ideas please Linda

Sorry to hear this. In your situation I would make an appointment to see a chiropractor. Good luck, Richard

I had the same happen to me. Also have some back problems. My relief has come from keeping up the exercise. Strong core muscles help support your back. I hope you feel better soon.

sounds like some nerves issues, i suffer from a bad back also & I’m on meds for nerve pain & it has stopped the pins & needles feelings completely. I hope you find some relief.

i had mine in Feb and have the same problem it sounds like your back same as me

Hi Milly, I have been looking for a Forum to discuss exactly this. I too have numbness and pins and needles down operated leg. it radiates from hip down back of thigh, back of kneed gets very tight and numbness in calf and shin down to ankle. I had my THR end of Feb this year, so about 20 weeks now.I have to sit down to work and this makes it a whole lot worse. I have been told all part of the healing but it feels so much like a trapped nerve. I have read that trapped sciatica nerve and Piriformis syndrome is very common after THR. The pain when I stand up is excrutiating in my butt and I have to steady myself a while before I can step out, with pain the first few steps. I still cannot walk upstairs properly with my affected leg taking weight, I go p one at a time using my left leg. I read some patients can walk upstairs unaided properly after a couple of months? I cannot walk far without beginning to limp, I keep trying to really concentrate and walk without limping. I thought I would be a lot further on at 20 weeks. I have started to wear for the first time compression stockings, yes even in this weather lol! I would love to hear how others and yourself are coping, thank you. Hope you are having a good day.

Hi, I had mine in February, have the same problem, think it is a trapped nerve, I dont have a problem with my back, just numbness in leg and behind knee. Just to compare (probably shouldnt) but how are you progressing at 20 weeks, I wish I had less pain, could walk further and didnt still limp, thanks for any replies

Sorry to hear about this. I’m guessing that you had the anterior approach. Am I right?
Richard

yes, anterior Richard. not sure if there are exercises I could do to help if it is a trapped nerve or Piriformis syndrome

Are you still suffering with pins and needless ? I know that this is an old post now but although i have not had aTHR i am having these symptoms and no one can find out what they are.

What nerve meds for nerve pain?
