Constant pain on toe after 5 months

Hi- While playing soccer, i clashed into the heel of my friends studs and that hit my upper part of the foot. This happened 5 months ago. I immediately started the R.I.C.E treatment for a week and the swelling reduced but the pain never went away. As a precaution, i went to the doctor and the X-rays showed no fracture. So i started using comfortable shoes for the last 4 months and till now if i walk without shoes i have a pain, when i start running or any activity on it i still have a strong pain shooting from my toe.

When i rest it and walk may be less than 2 miles a day, i am fine. But i want to start running and get back to normal as its been close to 5 month, since i was running or playing any physical sports.

Should i go the doctor to get an MRI ? Is my foot broken and the doc missed it ? Or should i rest it more and start exercises again ? Please help me out of my misery. I am slowly dying within and cant help and put this pain to rest.

Oh yes, go to an orthopedic surgeon! Bet a stress fracture or tendon issue was missed. That is not normal!! If you can fine a foot and ankle specialist that wouldbe better!!

I vote for a second opinion.  Which might lead to another x-ray and/or MRI.  I've learned that sometimes stress fractures may not show up on x-ray or may be hard to detect.  If you tore something, an x-ray won't show it.  After this much time, I'd either go back to the original doctor or go to another one.  Time for some answers and a plan to get you back on the soccer field.  Good luck!

Agreed!! My husband is a retired Radiologist who said many PC docs or doc in the box facilities miss fractures unless displaced!!

Thank you.Sure will

Thank you, the first doctor was an ass, not helpful at all. I ould take a second opinion for sure now.
