Is anyone else dealing with this due to the lack of activity? Not the opiod (pain killer induced kind). That one is totally different . How are you handling it?
I suffered really badly. Hit me while in hospital layed up. But think taking the meds and no activity both added to it. Mine carried on at home for weeks, untill the laxitives kicked in. All fine once i reduced meds. But has now started up again as Ive had to increase my meds again due to the increase in pain because Ive overdone the walking without aids this week. Ive been told to ut down start to use crutch again and to stop if the pain gets too bad. So its now ice ice ice and yet more laxatives!!! If its not one thing its another... sx
Yes . Have not gone for 4 days . Had surgery yesterday. The hospital has given me several things and nothing : ( . Next I think they will try a suppository
hope you get it sorted soon. sx
Yes on both accounts but less now as I've eased off the norco. I picked up fiber chews and take 2x dose (since it's just fiber) and I love apples so I ate 1-2 everyday, and oranges. Fruits and veggies and lots of water are key. I also have senna with colace if it's not enough, but I had to take a max dose of dulcolax the 2nd day post op because it was awful! I try not to take stimulants as the body can get used to them and require them for regularity. I don't know how active you are and forgive me if I've forgotten how far out p/o, but you may still do crunches and abdominal twists with your legs up in a chair for activity to increase motility. It took me about a week to get myself sorted out. Not fun.
Hi Susan
If uyou are in the US try Durolax. They gave it to me before I left the hospital. Took it two days worked wonders. Make sure you get the laxative one if you do get it
Barbara
Dulcolax max dose -- I took three! I used suppositories and I used enema. I am
Doing fiber gummies now and drinking a lot of
Water. I have to do Fleets glycerin suppositories as. Needed but yes if not one thing it's another !
I think I took 4 but not a big difference really. You got it bad sister! I think as soon as you have some results it won't be so bad after that and you'll find a program that works for you without all the drastic stuff 😰 There's also Miralax, Milk of Magnesia, and senna tea as well. Hope you get that figured out 💃🏻!
Magnesium supplements
Oh poor you christina. You have got it bad. I would definitely carry on with low dose once it's worked, just to keep you comfortable until you can start as you've always been. These injuries Ave a lot to answer for. Sx
Yes it's awful. The only way I managed was have 1 senna based laxative twice a day to start with plus a mug of warm pear juice. If you eat bread only eat chia bread. Once I had control I used 1 senna and warm pear juice. Per day then cut it to just juice. Now that I'm eating properly and am mobile. I have no problems , it took a few days to gain control then had TAPARSE for a day. That's when I cut to one a day. Chia is a very good way of staying regular Either in bread form or sprinkle over yoghurt at night eat in morn.
My doctor prescribed Movantik at the same time he prescribed the pain meds, antibiotics, etc. I took as needed and had no issues. Hope you are feeling better and that issue is on the mend.
Senna lax is WONDERFUL and it works! Your dr can prescribe it for you. It's a stool softener/laxative but plant based! I'm 14 wks post op and it's the only thing I've been using.
Thank you
Do u take it daily ? Seenalax
