I've been on the conti patches for a while now and I'm getting periods every 2 weeks. This is getting me down, feeling bloated all the time. My endocrine doctor says I shouldn't be getting periods at all on these patches. He's hopefully referring me to the women's clinic. Anyone else going through the same?
Hi Nicky, are these Evorel Conti patches. Is it a full on period or just a day or two? There are lots of ladies on here who experience spotting and short bleeding using these patches. Me included. Some say it's a small price to pay for the relief of all other symptoms, some change to another form of Hrt. Some say it takes up to six months to settle down. Hope this helps a little.
Hi Nicky, Evorel are notorious for spotting/bleeding. I was using them for 12 years (I'm 67) My GP asked me to stop Oct 2015 which I did (I had been cutting them in half for 5 years and had no probs) .. after less than a week after most of my symptoms came back, I slapped a full patch on out of desperation. This proved too much and my boobs were killing me, so I cut the patch in half.. sorted the terrible flushing and night sweats, but i spotted/bled every couple of weeks for 2 years! I eventually stopped Evorel last October and for 11 weeks I was free of all spotting/bleeds. The flushing came back (which proves I am still in menopause) anyway I put up with that. Then I started to get a burning uncomfortable feeling in my vagina. It was so sore I put half an Evorel patch on and within 5 days the bleeds started again. I now know that Evorel does not suit me and definitely causes the bleeds. and have asked for another form of HRT, (Premique has been suggested).. Nicky, it is quite normal for Evorel to cause bleeds for up to 6 months, if they haven't settled down by then, ask your GP for something with less Progestergen (main culprit)..
Hi yes they are the everal conti patches. My endocrine doctor said I shouldn't be having periods and it's getting me down. I have a period for about 3 days, then 2 weeks later a further 2-3 days again, but getting some real cramps lately each time also. I feel so depressed and bloated. My endocrine doctor has now referred me to gynacology for further investigations. I see a lot of women post on here having the same symptoms as myself and cannot understand why doctors say you shouldn't have periods at all. My body went into the change because of of having radiotherapy on my pituarity gland and they said I would go into the change early, of which I did.
Ive been thinking about cuttin them in half but whether this would reduce having periods every 2 weeks, I'm not sure. I have been referred to gynacology now and will see what they decide on. It's really depressing me and feeling bloated each time I'm on my period
Let us know how you get on with gyne please Nicky x
I will Maisie x
Hi.maisie,
I went to gynacology on Thursday and.i have now been put into a different patch and also a tablet that I have to take at night. Will have to see how i go over the next few weeks
I hope you feel better with these Nicky. I think as we start putting hormones into our bodies we experience a bit of weight gain and feel bloated while they settle. If you can watch your calorie intake/up your exercise, I think it will help. Easier said than done I know as I'm struggling myself, gained 4lb this past month. Blaming it on the weather! Today is a new day and I'm getting back on track...
I too am now on a patch and Utrogestan 100 pill. Had 2 recent episodes of spotting in the 3 months I've been using them. I cut a slice off the patch, Evorel 75, as my breasts became unbelievably tender. This seems to be working fine for me just now.
Just gone back to this’s lrescribed by my gynaecologist after sportting last Aug 2017, I stopped it as still spotting but think I never have any time so I then changed to evorel conti qnd then felseven I still spotted so I have gone back on the original but increased patch to oestrogen 75 and 100 utrogestan and give it another chance to settle as o get a period every other week since last August’s all test ok , I read and heard utrogestan a better progesterone to be on but 50 patch to low for me so on week 2 ..how long have you been on this combination Maisie ?
