I've had a fever off and on for a couple days now, but today I've had a fever the whole day, accompanied with pretty significant lethargy and chills in the morning. I decided to look up ways to bring my fever down and kinda assumed it was some sort of flu, but when I was looking that up I came across a section of fever causes and it listed a bunch of horrible things like blood poisoning, sepsis, toxic shock, and various forms of organ failure, and subsequently I started panicking again thinking I was gonna die.
Now that I'm a little less hysterical I was wondering if someone could give me some advice to help me stop repeating this cycle. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and set up an appointment to get the fever checked out, but I really need to stop looking up my symptoms and I don't know how.
I know how you feeling. I would say don't think too much about it and stop looking it up but I'm going through the same thing. It's tough especially if you don't have no one to talk too.
Hi angel-baby, I was like you not so long ago, looking up every symptom of every thing. I went to my dr and told her, she went mad lol. She said nearly all the stuff put on there is all made up and not to take any notice of it. I have been good now for nearly 6 monthes it’s hard but try not to darl xx
Definitely. People around me tend to get super annoyed that I'm always worrying the way I am. If I could stop looking up minor symptoms and convincing myself I've got sepsis, I definitely would. It's not really a choice, though, so I kinda just have to deal with it until I can figure out how to stop myself.
I'm really trying to stop looking stuff like this up but it's definitely a challenge. Even I know it's dumb that if you look up 'fever' on Google it tells you you're going to die, but I can't stop going there for advice. It's definitely a serious problem that I know needs to stop but I really don't know how to, since I've had health anxiety since very early childhood.
Hi Angel,
You need to stop looking stuff up on the internet, because it will drive you crazy 😜 Start thinking 🤔 positive! Here is a trick; Start writing a list of positives about your life. For example:
1. It sure is good to be alive.
2. I will read something positive today.
3. I will go for a walk today.
4. I am feeling so great.
5. I will eat a healthy meal
6. I will not eat processed sugar anymore.
7. I will drink at least 8 glasses of water today
8. I really feel great!
9. I will meditate for at least 10 minutes each day.
etc........
follow up with actions to each writer line....
Good luck to you Angel😇
