Hi all, i've been having inventory gasps for air that are increasing by the week. it is one gasp that is completely uncontrollable. they cause chest pain along with throat pain, as if i was having a cramp in my throat. my breathing has not been good of late and am struggling with walking or even turning over in bed can leave me breathless. i am waiting to see a nurse to have a breathing capacity test done??? but i have not told the doctor all my symptoms i've been having as i have not had much luck with doctors and don't want to be classed as a hypochondriac. however things are getting very uncomfortable... does anyone else have similar symptoms? my father has copd but i am concerned it might be something more as he does not have these symptoms...
i am a 40 years old....
thanks for any help and sorry for going on a bit...
well I do get cramp in my throat, among other places and turning over in bed is quite a long process but then I have severe COPD. You should tell your doctor all of your symptoms even with COPD we all have different symptoms and it could be something to do with your heart. You can't get a good diagnosis with just half a story though. June
I agree with oddbiddy shane if you dont tell your dr all of your symptoms dont you have a copd consultant or nurse write all your symptoms down when they occur what you feel after taking your meds do you have imorovements after taking them drink lot's of fluids eat well not big meals try and get an oxymeter you can get one on line its a way of keeping a check of your oxygen levels keep a note of levels and all symptoms another thing you can doo not related is weigh yourself in the morning as soon as you get up then find a time in the evening after you are settling down for the evening write it down its a way of finding out if your carring fliud if you are you will need to see you gp wish you well Eilean
Shane, I understand why you don't feel comfortable with your Dr. It sure seems like many of them have an attitude problem. I too feel like, my Dr. thinks I'm a hypochodriac. Please find another Dr. who will give you the respect you deserve. Your Breathing sounds awful, and although I sufffer from severe enphysema and my breathing is very labored, it's not as bad as your's. I was hoping it wouldn't get any worse, but I see now that it could.
Shane when you tell your dr all of your symtoms make a list of all your problems sometimes you forget to say something if the gp is talking to you it might be worth getting tested for BRONCHIECTASIS too its worth a mention it might be worth buying an oxymetre not that expensive seen them on AMAZON write down your oxygen levels through out the day and night keep a record it might help to see what your oxygen levels are like and record what activity your doing at the time hope it helps be well xx
