Whats the correct way to clean hands? Also should the hands feel like theres some hand wash still on hands? I have to put eye drops in my eyes and the waters sometimes not hot and they feel sticky and like there's still some hand wash on my hands.
I am no expert but I am sensitive to many substances including soap. I use Bath Cream / children's Bubble Bath as a cleanser by prfeference. When not available I use the hand wash provided. I find it difficult to wash off all traces of hand wash and indeed I am nearly always left with some of the scent on my skin. I check by siffing my hands. I spend as much time washing the residue away under running water as I do washing the dirt from my hands.
Holding an eyelid to facilitate the application of eye drops requires hands to be particularly free of residue. For such occasions I use cold running water for the whole of the process as that way I find the skin is less likely to retain residue from the cleanser.. Then I air dry my hands or use a fresh clean towel or kitchen towel.

If you google "how to wash your hands" you will find a load of links with descriptions of the correct technique to do it.
Always wet your hands first, BEFORE you put any soap onto the skin. One of the links says to wash your hands for 20 seconds - that is approximately singing "Happy birthday to you" through twice! Makes people look in the loos!
If you rinse them properly and dry them ON A CLEAN TOWEL you shouldn't have soapy feeling hands.
I put clean towel in capitals because the most bacteria-ridden items in the bathroom are your towles! They get wet and hang around wet in a warm room - perfect climate for bugs! If you are doing eye drops use a bit of kitchen roll to dry your hands rather than a dodgy towel. And the second most bacteria ridden items in public toilets are the air blown dryers followed by the door handles - comforting isn't it!
George, I find I spend a lot of time washing the residue off my hands as well. Im trying to get it off my hands but can't even with cold water. I will start using kitchen towel from now on.
Also the hot water isn't always available so the waters cold most of the time. I was wondering about using alcohol hand gel instead.
hard bar soap is best not the antibac liquid soap , apparently liquid anti bac helps spread germs .
Correct way is to use soap and water, just as medics do in hospitals. Plenty of water and rubbing to clear all the saop away before drying. The water does not have to be hot but neither should it be freezing cold. Use a scrubbing brush if you feel the soap has not completely cleaned your hands. Change the soap if you are still not satisfied. You could also use some alcohol after washing as that tends to remove any residue and evaporates so does not to be followed by any other action.
That's what I've just tried but I can still feel it on my hands. Going to try alcohol hand gel. The water wasn't hot or cold and I used the nail brush.
They are good when you can't get soap and water - but there are some things that they don't kill and for some bugs you need good old soap and water. Maybe you are using too much of too thick a cleanser? You only need just enough to make a foam, not any more.
Sorry to say it but I am horrified at the thought of relying on hand gel and then touching you eye lid. Germs need to go down the drain.
try african black soap dudu osun its supposed to be good for everything.
Hi emz
I find a second rinse after washing and afterwards use an antibacterial gel if possible, similar to what is used in hospitals. You can get the alcohol free solutions as well. Then keep massaging the gel into the hands until absorbed.
As you read through the replies, others maybe of use and in time you will find your own solution.
I've got some hand gel which I'm going to use after hand washing.
Just an idea, if you have some baby lotion, put a little bit in the the water when you wash your hands and pat dry. I find that your hands are dry and soft. I believe that it creates a barrier, hay I'm sure that you will have other suggestions. So give them a try to see what suits you best.
I've tried everything on here. My hands are still sticky.
In that case you need to see your GP as you may have a problem needing medical attention.
I was just thinking, could it be the pause in her hands that is producing the sweat/secretions?, with emz441. If that is the case, then the doctor or pharmacist would be the best place to go for an over the counter solution and not a high street brand product.
It is quite likely that our pores exude extra secretions under various conditions but while that is unlikely in this case the best approach is to get that medical opinion followed by a prescription that hopefully will solve the problem.
