I was diagnosed last May and it was with me for most of last year although I enjoyed a respite whenever I was on holiday as you are more relaxed. I felt OK after Christmas so thought I would chance the gym as I missed going. Blimey, I wish I hadn't gone. It's been awful this week, like someone has placed a heavy weight on my chest. Having to use my inhalers again. I didn't lift any weights as I knew that wouldn't be a good idea, just the treadmill and cross trainer but I do feel it brought my symptoms back again. So frustrating.
Your comment is interesting. I have Costochondritis. Plus acid reflux plus a sinus condition. Have horrible cough and swallow mucus all day. Plus probs breathing out sometimes. Recent heart echocardiogram shows no problem. Had puffers and tried them last year. My doc says it is not my lungs, so they are not useful, but I found old puffers and started to use them. Seems to help a bit. So. I swim a bit, and do light treadmill. Being careful. Do you have any explanation as to why puffers help with all this breathing etc if it is not lung related? Very frustrating. And of course, the coughing is embarrassing, as people think you have the flu.
Yeah, I have been tested for COPD and everything else and it's definately Costo. This week it's been like my chest has expanded and I have been on my puffer again, and wearing restricted clothing is uncomfortable, definately better once I am home, had a warm bath and relaxed. I also have acid reflux so constantly eating anti acid tablets. So think I am going to cancel my gym membership as I am not going to go again anytime soon. May try swimming. Just frustrating
Exactly
How I feel off and on 3 years . How were you diagnosed ? General practitioner or a specialist ?
What test do they do for copd?
My doctor sent me to the hospital because of course the symptoms are very similar to having a heart attack. So I was diagnosed at hospital. I've been back to the doctor since but they just give me strong painklillers which I can't take and they don't really work. So not gone back to the docs since as no point.
I did the test for COPD at the docs, where they get you to blow into an apparatus. Horrid!
So the copd test you just blow into tubes ? And they determine that day ? Or do you need blood work as well ?
It comes and goes. Just have to not worry and go about your business. Lifting and carrying my granddaughter seems to aggravate it.
That is such a shame....I would be so tempted too. Did GP give you inhalers because of Costo?
