I’m 23 and have been suffering from what I think is ‘costochronditis’ for 3 years. The pain is on the left side on the ribs. It can be a dull pain ton extremely sharp pain. It effects my every day life. I find myself crying cos the pain is so intense sometimes. I’m in pain the majority of the day but it seems to be 100 times worse as night. No over the counter or prescription drugs have worked in the slightest, (apart from Amitriptyline) also I find a heated bean bag helps relieve the pain, which I use at night. I’m up every a few times in the night been woken from the pain. I can only lie on my left side in bed as it’s painful to sleep on my back with the rib pain. I’m traveling the world at the moment and struggling to enjoy myself when I’m in this constant pain. Doctors at home werent too helpful. When I’m home I’m thinking about injections (any help and advise please) 
Hi I really simpathise with what you are experiencing. Skeletal pain is particularly uncomfortable.,,, I have had major rib structure disturbance during surgery and its quite unpleasant. The question is how do you suspect its costochondritis? Has this been confirmed by a doctor/consultant in the field of OSTEOPATHY? or are you basing your diagnosis upon your own observations. If you have had surgery, for example thoracotomy, or any rib cage disturbance it would make sense, if you have had a fall from height and impacted the central part of the ribcage called the sternum it would make sense, if you have spinal nerve damage or somehow damage the intercostal nerve system it would make sense.So ask of yourself these questions. And if not already get a dedicated consultant to appraise your case.Only then can one safely prescribe an antidote to your pain so good luck with that
