My daughter born at 33 weeks has cp
My wife and I were told at 11:00am that baby was in distress and she was not dilevered till 4:05 pm could this delay have been a cause for her having cp
Hello Davemc so sorry to hear about your daughter. Whilst premature babies are very often diagnosed with cp it would seem that in your case the delay in delivering her was probably a factor in her condition now. Why did they wait so long if they knew she was in distress? We have an ongoing law suit against the hospital in the USA because if medical malpractice so I would definitely urge you to contact a lawyer who is experienced with lawsuits in children with cp. chose a no win no fee lawyer who will advise you. Therapy and equipment are costly. I know how much we are paying for our grand daughter so whilst the money cannot reverse cp it can at least give you the means of providing the best quality care for her to give her a good quality of life. Contact a lawyer and he will tell you at your initial meeting if you have a case for taking legal action. Good luck. Hi Dave, I have CP and I'm sorry about your circumstances and possibly the uncertainty of what might be ahead of your child.. Yes, prem babies are more likely to have CP especially if they are in distress; more so due to lack of oxygen to the brain shortly before or during delivery.. CP is a brain injury making difficulty managing motor control/muscle movement; often caractorised in younger children by awkward movements and usually late reaching their milestones, also speech can often be affected as well.. There are four types of CP; all children with this disability will have differing degrees of severity depending on where (in what part) their brain damage is, and to what degree (how bad).. we are too beginning an official investigation into Elmo's birth who also showed signs of stress a couple of hours before birth and although he is a full term baby he has a lot of problems due to his still birth and 20mins of reanimation and who knows how long he was with stress in the belly cause of the knot in the ubical cord. Although there might be a lot of opinions and it might be difficult to prove the mistake I feel that I owe it to myself, to Elmo as well as to future births to have another insight to this birth. If there is smth proven it will support us as a family and also my sons better quality of life as well as his therapies that we would like to try for him without thinking about where could we get the money from since we could never afford them. This is anyway smth for the future but for the present this act has helped at least my husband to put his aggression due to the incident into a creative direction of searching for answers. we are in a difficult situation which came from nowhere and we need all the support we can get.
