I'm experiencing similar symptoms to you. I too have just had an abdominal scan, all clear.
I've had the rib pain for about 5 months now. It's mainly on my left side but radiates around the whole area. It's so frustrating not knowing what's wrong
I'm back at the doctors this week to see what the next step will be. I hope you get some answers soon, try to stay positive.
Thanks Lucy
It is very frustrating especially as pain moves and one day
Can be mild then pain moves. At least I know I'm n

Possibly. But have you had a spinal MRI?
Also, it sounds like your organs are toxic. Your body in general.
Hi June, (I just sent this same msg to about 3 other people. It is very long so I just copied and pasted it to here.) I've had FM for 20 years now and have had all these symptoms. It started after a severe viral lung infection that went undiagnosed for 6 months!! (It can come from any type of trauma, including surgeries.) I have been to all kinds of drs. and have had every test under the sun. It is very frustrating to try to get people/drs to understand what you are going through. I am from the states and I found this book that all FM sufferers should read... it was written by a female DOCTOR who touches on everything you have - and will - experience. She is brilliant and you will feel like you have someone who finally understands and it is great because you can take this to your doctor and show them that this is real and this is how you are feeling and they will listen because a doctor wrote it! The name of the book is "Fribromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain, A Surival Manual" written by Devin Starlanyl and Mary Ellen Copeland. She explains how the myofascial tissues between the muscles becoming tightened (instead of supple) and this has something to do with the nervous system. AND, a good thing that I also found after 20 years of doctoring (15 w/ a rhuematologist that only wanted to give me muscle relaxers and pain pills...) is that a drug for the nervous system called Lamictal (lamoTRIgine), helped with the nerve relays from the brain to the muscles WITHOUT pain meds! It greatly reduced my pain. (I started seeing a neurologist and he helped me in 3 weeks...after 20 yrs. of doctoring!) Not sure if this will work for everyone, but I want to get it out there in hopes that it my help others. Do you have this med available in the UK? I am going to copy this note and paste it in other discussions on this site so that it becomes so redundant in hopes everyone can check this book and med out. Best wishes to you and hang in there.
Thank you to everyone for the replies it is very helpful.
I have not had a spinal mri only one on my foot, but I have had a bone scan and before my surgery had a ct from neck to below pelvis
my osteopath reckons my back all tight and legs so could be causing the pain in my leg. Going to carry on with him for a while as helping with some issues. Hate taking pain killers unless really have to , and only night time it gets really uncomfortable.
do feel so bloated all the time and can't believe how my weight has ballooned and yet not eating more than I was although not getting as much exercise I suppose
Hi, very interested in your post. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia recently. Although i suffer with all the common aches and pains it is the exhaustion that i find worse to deal with. I have sufffered with this for years but was only diagnosed eight weeks ago. I am now wondering if the severe pain i can cope with is maybe due to the fact i have been on Lamotrigine/Lamictal for the last twenty years due to being epileptic. A friend of mine has fibromyalgia and she has been prescribed with epilim which is another epilepsy medication! perhaps its better than pain killers!!!!
I don;t think you're on your own with the weight gain etc, when I have to struggle to find the effort to move out of a chair etc it's a surprise to gain weight when we dont seem to be eating. some days i survive on tea but i guess when i do eat i eat the wrong things at the wrong times.
hello June,
Sounds like you have been through the mill, and could well have Fibromyalgia. Make sure your Doctor eliminates any other conditions. Sorry to hear about the stress, this will certainly not help, and probably contribute to Fibro.
Take care, Anne
Thanks
Osteopath reckons stress has lot to do
With my aches and pains. Due to visit doc again in few weeks after I finish course of medication
