I self diagnosed myself for hsv2 at the beginning of the month. However before I discovered the "cold sores" around my vagina I had unprotected sex and oral with another partner. The other partner knows about my STD but he hasnt had any symptoms, I know the virus can stay dormant in the body but it's still odd. Also I only got three tiny bumps that are super small now but I thought the outbreaks were supposed to be more than that. My discharge has also gotten better, it was a lot than usual at first and yellow with an odor. Now its fine. Haven't been on meds or anything, is this normal?

Genital herpes can range anywhere from zero or mild symptoms to a bad or severe outbreak. There is also no physical distinction between the two types, yet it matters which type you have, so self-diagnosis is not advisable, as you can't distinguish the type, nor conclusively say that you even have GH. It's probably too late for a swab now, so the next best thing is the IgG at 3+ months.
