Could Mindfulness be the answer?

Been reading the Mindfulness book by Mark Williams and got to say it resonates with me, it's clinically proven to help treat anxiety and depression and the book really talked sense about how our minds can play tricks and cause us to react to things with anxioys thoughts and behaviours.

It has a CD for guided meditation and not the crossed legged sort, and provides weekly exercises to do which help the mibd find its inner peace.

Im not a new ager far from it, I'm very sceptical and pragmatic about these things but saying that I'm going to finish the book and do the exercises just to see how it helps.

If anyone else has read it or practiced it let me know your thoughts.

I agree, with anxiety, yes i do think so because anxiety is all in our heads as we over think and lean towards the negative things. My dad does yoga and practices mindfullness and meditation techniques and i can definitely say that he is a very calm person. worrying however can get ontop of all of us even if we do try these things. I'd say it helps anxiety and can help to treat many things that are somewhat wrong in our minds! Thanks for sharing

Hi Aspinan,

I cannot recommend Mindfulness enough. I suffer with GAD and it is a life saver for me. Really practice it and a daily basis and it is always there to call upon even if you only have 3 minutes in a stressful situation to sit and be mindful in the moment. I was taught it at a Community Mental Health class. good luck

Hi....when I was first diagnosed with anxiety I wanted cbt therapy but the waiting list was to long so I looked into other options myself and I did a four week course on mindfullness and found it a great tool to try and turn off the head chatter etc....a lot of it is common sense but I think life can sometimes make us stressed out so it was good to practice this to refresh the mind and with anxiety it really needs implemented into our day to day life.....I must look into this book i think the cd would be great.....there's also some great meditation clips on utube as well xx

Hi, have you tried "Headspace"? Although the main site is subscription only, they provide a free App to show you how to do 10 minutes of mindfulness daily for 10 days, Worth a look - its helped me
