Hello,
I used to get migraines badly, 2 or 3 times a month but found that taking diuretics daily has helped a lot in preventing them. I still get the occasional one but not as bad as before.
The problem I sometimes get now is when I go to a large store I cannot focus properly, I look around but my eyes start rolling all over the place as if it's too much for me to take in. I just want to get out from there in fear of passing out.
I also get a spaced out feeling and when I talk to someone face to face I sometimes have to look away but my head feels like it is going to start spinning.
Can anyone relate to any of this? I am taking meds for anxiety because I assumed that's what this was but I'm not sure anymore.
Fed up of feeling unwell all of the times.
Thank you
My first question would be, did the issues that you currently have, begin after you started on the diuretic? The inner ear is reliant on the proper amount of fluid in order to function properly. If it did not begin after you started on the diuretic, I would say that you have a vestibular issue. I have the same type sensations and I suffered Vestibular Neuritis almost 2 years ago. My issues have gradually gotten better over the course of the 2 years but, I still experience them to a minor degree.
Hello Terry,
Thanks for your reply. I have been taking diuretics for several years but the symptoms I have now started over a year ago, they come and go. Do you think diuretics have anything to do with them?
Diuretics remove fluid and the inner ear is very senstive to changes in fluid levels. I believe that my symptoms developed as a result of taking a BP medication called Losartan. It does the same as a diuretic to decrease blood pressure.
If you have been taking them for years it may not be the culprit. Google Vestibular Disorder Association and select "about vestibular disorders". You will find information about the sensation that you are feeling. The issue is that the brain and your visual field get overloaded and the balance component does not know what to make of it. I experience these same symptoms.
Thanks Terry, I feel reassured knowing I'm not the only one with these symptoms. I will look up as advised.
Take care
J
