could this be celiac

His looking for some info and advice. I am 32 yr old female I have been type 1 diabetic for 5 yrs good control. I was diagnosed with anemia in January and put on iron tablets also developed anxiety due to symptoms I was having from anemia. Anyway over the past few months I have been increasingly tired I get lightheaded a lot I have some stomach issues I burp non stop all day especially after meals I get bloated , pain in stomach going to the toilet more frequently, feel nauseus on and off and what seems like sinus pain especially jaw and ears. I know some of these could be anxiety and the anemia altho this is better. Just wanted to know if anyone with celiac has these symptoms I know having diabetes and celiac can be linked .

Even though you were not a child when you were diagnosed, you have the childhood version of Diabetes. My friend has this and it's sometimes called "Type III" and it's less aggressive but it's just as auto-immune as Type !.

And yes, auto-immune conditions tend to lead to more. Not always, but it happens enough...you should keep eating gluten regularly (the equivalent of several slices of bread, daily) and get blood testing plus endoscopy with biopsy. It'll take time to complete all of that, but it will be worth it, either way!

Some people with AI conditions can't tolerate gluten although it's not CD. You just want to know for sure either way. If nothing shows up after all of your testing, try to eliminate gluten for your own sake and see how you feel.

Have you been tested for other deficiencies as well as iron? Your D and B12 could be low as well, and those would give your symptoms. Of course, CD causes all types of deficiencies, and lactase is one of them, too...so you may want to take a supplement with dairy and see if that helps (or substitute lactose free dairy for a while...cheddar is naturally lactose-free for example).

And, yes, CD is also related to anxiety and emotional/psychological issues. You should get the full run of tests to be sure that's not what you have...it won't be fun for a while, but hang in there!! I wish you the best!!

p.s. Forgot to mention, Pernicious Anaemia is also an auto-immune condition that causes chronically low B12 levels. Ask your dr. to look into that, too, unless you already know your B12 levels are fine... If you read up on these forums or online about PA, you'll see the symptoms are also similar to what you describe.

GL!

Thank u so much for ur reply I have been keeper for vitamin b12 but that was fine. I am due back at doctors next week so I will ask about some other tests to rule it out x

If you have one auto-immune disease, you are more likely to develop another. It is definitely possible you have coeliac disease, your symptoms sound familiar.  Please bear in mind that when you visit your doctor, that you can get false negative results with a blood test, so if yours comes back negative, it would be wise to have a follow up endoscopy with biopsies, to be 100% sure.

My own blood test was a false negative, but due to the severity of my symptoms the doctor arranged an endoscopy, which turned out to be positive.

Thank you for your reply I have type 1 diabetes and and underactive thyroid also have iron deficiency anemia these r all under control but haven't had a proper diagnosis of what us happening with these other symptoms doctor tho was acid reflux ppis haven't worked so far. I am back at doctor on Monday so hoping will carry out some other tests

So you have 2 auto-immune diseases already, which makes your chances higher for developing another.  Anaemia is also a symptom of coeliac disease, and some of your other symptoms seem quite likely to connected to coeliac disease too.

I used to take a PPI too, but it didn't help my acid reflux.

Good luck with your appointment at the doctors.
