Hi all
My doc has sent me to the mental health team that run in my local town to help me cope with my anxiety!
I no what triggers it off its things like driving and places with big crowds like a town center. But driving is the biggest problem as I do a lot of travelling and I feel trapped and can't get out and being far away from home knowing no one scares me to death!
As I no what triggers it off do you think they can help me deal with it as this is the problem I haven't got a clue how to deal with a panic attack and am all at sea until I take a diazepam that takes the edge off but I want to get off all meds am on which are diazepam and pregablin
Will this place help me! It's my last chance can't cope with it no more.
Hope ur all well fellow sufferers my love and thoughts are with you
Kevin
many people isolate themselves and then become afraid of crowds and open spaces in towns. It is something you need to battle in order to win your confidence back. Try doing things a little at a time and make bigger targets each time.

So many of us feel exactly the same way.I have great difficulty going anywhere far from home as I am always worrying about being taken ill .Everyone on this site is very understanding and all try to help each other. You are really not alone feeling this way.Wendl.
I think you sould try counselling as I find it very helpful. It will depend on whether you get on with your counsellor but I found that having someone who you can talk open and honestly to is great. You can explain how you feel and they will help you to think about ways to start to cope or overcome the panic. My theory is that trying something is much better than not trying it and hoping to just get over it yourself. Good luck with your first session.
I think its worth a go Kevin. You may find that the space to talk in a safe environment, once a week just for you will allow you to explore the reasons for your anxiety and maybe to learn strategies for coping in different situations such as driving or being around crowds of people. I do hope that this will help you with your difficulties, these are the people to see - they are trained in dealing with this illness so, hopefully, should be able to equip you with tools to help you to manage it.
Very best of luck and best wishes to you. x
Hi I feel your pain, it's the most awful illness, up until recently I was living a full life then over night I became anxious and depressed and have become so miserable I can't stand even thinking about going out in a public place, I'm starting a new antidepressant tomorrow and even feel sick about that as I had bad side effects on the last ones resulting in me feeling like this!
I think you should try the counselling and you will soon know if it's for you or not.
All the very best of luck x
It has been very helpful to me. My therapist is lovely and she tries to get me to look at things from a different angel, you have to have an open mind, and want to get better x
I would give counselling a go, in my first session I was very sceptical about the whole thing, I wondered why she asked certain questions and everything. However. everything we spoke about made me realised what triggers my anxiety/panic, knowing what causes it is a great thing! As now I know, I can do things a certain way or avoid stress situations.
Counselling has done wonders for me, having said that counselling isnt for everyone though!
