Cpap.mask sleep apnoea

I’ve recently started using cpap machine im struggling, any advice?

Hi Tracey,

I can’t give you any first-hand advice as I haven’t been to the sleep lab yet. I have an appointment scheduled for two months’ time, as my GP thinks my increasing problems with daytime sleepiness might be down to sleep apnoea, blood tests not having turned up anything negative.

I too am dreading possibly having to have a CPAP, but I recall some good advice I read on these boards a year or so ago. This was from a poster who recommended wearing the device when at rest during the day, to get used to it. He said he couldn’t get on with it at all at first, but took to wearing it for quite long periods during the evening, when reading or watching TV. He said he eventually managed to acclimatise to it.

Hope this helps you - and me if necessary! I’d be interested to hear how things go in the future.

Hi Tracey,
I’ve been on CPAP for 8 years. What is it you are struggling with?

Hi Tracey, if it’s the mask you’re having problems with (some people find it claustrophobic), I believe they have several types available that you could try.
