In october this year I was diagnosed with a small PE in my left lung, and after two months the doctors say that it is completely gone. I do have chest pain still which stopped a couple of hours ago and was replaced by a crackling sound and feeling in the lung when breathing in, in the exact same place as the pain was. I assume it's a good sign as I feel like I can breathe better and the pain is gone, but just in case I'm writing here to ask if anyone experienced something like this during or after a PE? Should I be worried about this? I'm going to the doctor on monday and I will ask him about this anyway, but just in case this may be something serious I want to ask here too.
Craçkling sound is a typical characteristic of a chest infection, so could be that. I have had a couple if chest infections since my PEs two years ago, so maybe PEs leave you a bit more prone to chest infections?
Think you need it checked out though, just to be sure, especially if you are not on anticoagulants.
Hi I had my PE nearly 3 yrs ago and still get the crackling sound in my lungs I take Chesty Forte tablets which seem to work my lung specialist gave them to me
I find it's worse when I am lying in bed at night

Hi I had my PE 6 weeks ago.
1 week ago I had exactly the same symptoms as you. I called the NHS who sent an ambulance within 4 mins. They were obviously worried about PE like I was. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and pleurisy and given antibiotics which has cleared it.
Ask your doctor to have a listen tomorrow .
