Cramps in a body area that is hard to talk about

Hello, ladies.

Firstly, I am going to get graphic in this post. I don't know how to ask about this symptom in a nice way.

I was just awakened from a nap by terrible PAINFUL cramps in my anus and rectum.

I have had cramps like this before right before my period. But never this intense or this painful. I never had this sort of cramps as a young woman but I started having them in my mid 40's. I am 50 now. I know am in perimenopause. It is just so uncomfortable and painful. It is hard to sit. I am close to the time my period should be starting. I am having crushing fatigue too. Oh. The vaginal and abdominal cramps just started too. Ugh!!!! I'm so ready for this to end!

Never feel it's graphic here. We are all going through something. The only thing I get are cramps when I'm not even having periods and when I get paps they come too but I know it's nothing serious cause it's been checked but out but I have a tiny fibroid.

You should never at the age to get a colonoscopy now just to check things out. I did and everything was ok but I had a tear in my anus because if being constipated so doc fixed that.

Menopause has its ups and downs but if we take each day to find delights in something we can get through it. Good luck hon.

Thank you. I have been having cramps like I am going to have a period but is not time for my period.

Take care.

Hi

I am glad that I saw your post . I had pains in my rectal area which was awakening me in the middle of the night . I am also having perimenopause with all possible symptoms.

I am 51 . I had colonoscopy done and everything was normal . I also was diagnosed with hyperthyroid and was thinking that all my symptoms related to that . But my thyroid levels are normal now but I still have all symptoms plus anxiety .

You are not alone .

Thank you for your relpy. I have so many symptoms too. Anxiety and just not feeling like myself are the worst symptoms for me.

It does help me to know that I am not alone in all of this.

Take care.

Of course you are not alone ! I have all 66 symptoms that are described in another discussion . Strange pains, burnings , stiff neck and face, strange feeling around my nose. My doctors probably tired of me I went through head back wnd neck MRIs . They have ordered multiple blood tests . All came back negative .

If you around 50 then you are due for colonoscopy. May be a good idea to exclude everything there .

perimenopause is not an easy time but everyone says that eventually it gets better . Long walks help me really a lot and exercise.

I hope that you feel better soon .

Really sorry if I am missing the point - but might it be trapped wind?  I often get very painful cramps up there during the night caused by wind. I think it happens when we're not moving about because it never happens during the day. I find walking around or jogging up and down stairs can help to release it.  Or pressure on my lower belly eg curling into the foetal position and hugging a pillow tight into my belly. Takes a while for it to pass.

Hi Catherine, can I ask how they fixed the tear in your an us please? My husband has been suffering from it. He was giving a cream. But I am not sure if it really is helping. Thank you

Hi Catherine how did the Dr treat your anal tear as i had this i had a lot of trouble this was when i was menopausal. I am now post menopause.

Hi.. yes i get this from time to time and it is agony... its a crippling pain that pretty much takes your breath away and leaves you lying on the bed and not being able to do much else.  Its related to IBS... and i believe its actually caused by your muscles in that area going into spasm.. can be brought on by allergies and stress. As we go through menopause we tend to develop allergic reaction to many things including foods that never bothered us before, without the hormones our bodies have reduced ability to fight off things and to regulate our gut flora so we have all these weird symptoms.  Try peppermint capsules but take with some food.. ive found these are the only things that help but dont over use them as they can cause other problems as with most things. I take one if its medium and 2 if its severe. You get lots of wired cramping sensation around this time and its ome times hard to tell what is bowel and what is womb.  It may be word doing a food diary and also include things like stress etc at the same time .. this way you can track what is causing the symptoms and remove or limit it. Around the time of your period you will be more sensitive to allergic reactions too.

I have so many symptoms too. The emotional symptoms, anxiety, depression, crying are my worst symptoms. The anxiety is crippling sometimes. I just don't feel like myself at all. I just want to feel like me. The hard time sleeping as well. I am having acupuncture twice a week but I am right before my period and my hormones are going crazy. Nightmares and stressful dreams last night and just didn't sleep well. Ugh!!!! I am so over this!!!!

Hi. I had to have a fissurectomy done. It was done less than an hour. It hurt for a day and a half afterwards and now I try to eat fiber like plenty of veggies and fruits.
