Crippling anxiety

Hi, guys, i have returned to this forum after finding that it really helped me through my Anxiety & depression that appeared out of the blue some 7 years ago. I have through the years managed to decrease my Citalopram dosage from 40mg to a maintenance dose of 10mg. however I am now facing major surgery with a hip revision & I am again crippled with anxiety. I have upped my dosage to 20mgs about 4 days ago & I am feeling dreadful does this happen & also do you think it will get better ? I value all the responses I get so much as i know you lovely people are so kind & heart warming. I feel so ashamed if myself for being so weak. Thanks in advance for any input that i receive.x

hi linda how are you this evening?

Hi Linda,

Sorry you’re feeling so rubbish. I’m afraid I can’t comment on what you’re going through as I’m early on in treatment too but I did want to say you’re absolutely not weak and should never feel ashamed! Battling with your mind everyday is so brave and the furthest from weak. You are strong!

sorry for late reply. thanks for replying. I am not great , hoping the increase of meds will eventually help. Hope all’s okay with you

Thank you for your kind words, really appreciated. I hope you will feel better soon, it takes courage to admit you need help & get it. well done to you for doing that. this forum has some lovely kind helpful people on it & although you sometimes think this can only happen to you you find not so it happen to all people & all ages. that is what helped me when i first got anxiety & then depression knowing i wasn’t alone & having such kind genuine support. So good luck x

hi linda hope youre okay, things will get easier it just takes time. youre not alone, although anxiety can make us feel so alone as we live in our heads. talking on here is a great help. im here for you

Thank you, I just feel ridiculous I know i have to have this surgery but my anxiety & fear are so crippling that i want to run away which is totally unacceptable. its all consuming . i just hope the increased dose kick in soon. i am going to have a reiki session on Friday to see if that will help. thanks for your kind words x
