Is it possible to manage OCD Generalized anxiety and some depression without medicine. I was supposed to start my Lexapro today but the side effects and some of the negative things that have been said about it scare me and I've been on a SSRI (only it was for my prostate) so I know what the side effects will feel like except for how it will change me will I turn into just a happy lost fool versus just a sad lost person will I still be me will I still be creative will I be zombie like?

And how do I know I need to be on it as my Therapist only said to consider it never that I absolutely need it and my Pyschiatrist I talked to his intern then he gave me a prescription but we only talked for a few minutes and I'm nervous about Pyschiatrist

I just need to know have I exhausted all other options I hate my OCD It makes me doubt every direction I could take

I have generalised anxiety disorder I'm on lowest dose of fluoxetine I've bin on for 10 weeks which has helped me loads but I'm starting to feel anxious and depressed again only slightly I don't even wanna up my dose I'm too scared but when I wasn't on meds I was a total reck me with general anxiety I can't be off meds I've got to take them for the rest of my life it's only worth a go and try not to listen to side effects everybody is different good luck

Thank you so much for your reply I guess I'm scared that I will need them for life, I hope you feel better

That's like me I'm 28 my mum and dad gave me such a really bad child hood and very badly abusive and pure neglect for 17years and now all this anxiety on and off through my life.. now I got to have long term psychological therapy and on meds till I'm old makes me more disgusting makes me think why me.. thank you everyone who suffers will get better takes time but don't forget gad is a serious mental disorder

Yeah that's rough. I heard there are some good successes stories out there. It's like 50/50 from what Ive gathered

Oh my I barely saw the post I made.🙄😭 It looks like an essay. It wasn't me. It came out in that format. Just ignore the post.

50/50 that's tough. But if you want to take the risk go ahead. Good Luck. Hope you are one of the success storys.🙌

If I go that route I hope so too and thank you as always!
