CT Revision Surgery Finger Numbness

Desperate for answers or at least direction. I am finding that having a revision surgery has caused more damage to the median nerves. I have my first CTR in 2009 with a DeQuirveins Release of the right hand. Because I still went back tot he same line of work (I am a business analyst and on a computer 8 hrs a day), I was advised that a revision surgery would relieve the continued pain since cortisone injections were helpful; even if only for a few weeks. In 2011 I had a CTR and DeQuirveins release revision surgery and although it helped, after continued years of overuse, the pain, tingling and numbness came back. I had a 2nd CTR revision surgery on 11/30/17 and have numbness, tingly and pins and needles to my middle and ring finger, and the tip of my thumb.  I also have sever numbness to both sides of the middle/ring fingers. I go for a f/u on 2/14 and am feeling very discouraged. Any suggestion on what I can ask other than request and MRI. Of course the orthopedic hand surgeon says this "can" happen because I had intensive scar tissue around the median nerve. But it has been 9 weeks with NO improvement or sensation improving.

Hey Klasssychris,

Sorry to hear the bad news. I wasn't completely satified with my surgeries either. Check out this site carpal tunnel t r e a t ment dot net....sorry you'll have to put that one together your self since the auto reponse will take the url away. There is a woman with alot of answers to curing cts...you should give it a shot.

Goodluck

So that's three operations altogether. Some cases like this are due to misdiagnosis (though not necessarily all). It's far too complex a problem to solve on a patient forum like PUK and you probably need detailed nerve conduction studies, a careful review of your existing NCS (I hope there are several sets with this story), ultrasound imaging of the nerve (better than MRI for this), and a good neurological opinion. You are welcome to come and discuss it in detail on carpal tunnel net if you have some of the existing test results. Dr J Bland
