Between the ages of 16 and 30 i drank like a fool. Nothing i'm proud of obviously. But i would often be the last one drinking and in the worst shape. I would slam beers all night long. I made many many trips to the bathrooms in bars and parking lots peeing. I also being from up north and working in the city made many trips without stopping on the 3 hour trek back and forth. Does anyone think that that contributed to by bhp now? Does anyone else that has the symptoms have a history of alot of drinking or delaying urinating for years. I currently have had bhp for about 6 years now and have been taking flowmax for the last year. Flowmax allows me to pee and lets me only get up once a night. I still have my sex drive but i don't want sex as much and my orgasm is about 50% of what it use to be.

I never drank much in my life. Always peed when I needed to. I have BPH although I still pee fine. My prostate is 125cc
Yes, “holding it” is not good. Once in a while maybe cannot be avoided depending on one’s situation, but doing it regularly can stretch out your bladder and also harm the detrusser muscles that line the bladder and the nerves so that the urge to empty is altered or even disappear. Then its even easier to stretch the bladder out more.
That happened to me. Right now I am not sure how much of my problem is from enlarged prostate, and how much from years of bladder abuse.
Not likely. BPH is related to genetics. As men get older our testosterone levels change and our bodies process it differently. We have more DHT in our system and the more DHT the more likely our prostates enlarge. It is also related to male pattern baldness.
Ditto for me. Lots of drinking in my younger years and “holding it” too long too often. Not sure which caused which, retention the BPH or the BPH the retention.
