Cystocele 4 weeks almost post op surgery with major swelling. Pressure on vagina and rectum.

Need answers for reason for the swelling sensation. Feels like vagina and rectum being pushed out as before. Went to doctor 1 week post op because of this, bladder still in place. Doctor had no explanation. Scheduled to go for check up in 3 weeks. This will be the 6th week since surgery. Can't rest or sleep well because of the constant swelling. Can someone give me some answers, please.

Jean first of all take some anti inflammatories if you aren't already. The swelling is very often a result of the trauma from the surgery but you need to rest and that means feet up doing absolutely nothing. If possible stay in bed and occasionally walk around for a few minutes but nothing more. Take the anti inflammatories regularly even though you may not be in pain.

Hi Jean, I had rectocele, cystocele, bladder prolapse and labiaplasty and am at the 6 weeks and am getting the same swelling and feeling as you are. I went to the Dr yesterday and everything was OK so far, thank God. But, he was not sure why I'm swelling. The swelling got worse when I went to work and sat all day and walked. I am off for another 8 weeks. I'm going to continue laying in bed with my feet up.

Good luck hope all is well with you

May be worth getting an earlier appointment at the hospital. Could be a blood clot or something. If it is so uncomfortable that you can't sleep I would go earlier. I have had to go back twice since my cystocoele surgery six weeks ago.

Thanks Paula for the reply. I was not told this would happen. Just not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, bend over to pick anything up or sqat and to take it easy for 1-3 weeks which would be crucial to my recovery. . So frustrating.

What jean describes is typical post operative pain. If someone thought it was a blood clot I would definitely not advise an earlier appointment with the consultant. That would be an A&E visit but you would know about it I can assure you. Blood clots following this surgery are extremely rare.

Thanks Matron. I started taking some, but stopped. I will try them again.

Sorry

It did cause the hemmorhoids to flare up more because of the pressure.

I am trying the anti inflammatory tablets today.

Don't apologise barbara. You made a valid point

Thanks to all for your responses. Most appreciated.

.

Hey hun. I read somewhere to put a little water on a pad and put in the freezer. Then when you use it it's like a personal ice pack.

Might help?

I remember the amount I was still swollen at 4 weeks and I felt like everything was being pushed out aswell which is why I was so convinced my prolapse was still there but it wasn't ! Just think it takes time !! We taking quite a bartering down there during this op !

Btw what treatment are you using for haemorrhoids!? Asking as I have some :-(

Thanks, will try... Trying PrepH, not doing much.

Hi Bunky,

How long before the feeling that it was pushing out and swollen go away? I just started feeling it in my 5th week.

Oops how long after???

Hi Matron,

Just an update, I went to see me Dr on Friday and all was healing well. He wasn't sure why I was swelling on labias and perineum areas. But, no signs of infection thank God. He did do an inspection inside and said all looks good, I still have some inner sutures.

I just went to the restroom and noticed that my discharge is pink now. I do not have any pain or anything just wanted to ask if that is normal at 6 weeks and if anyone else has had this???

I've never really bled at all after the surgery. Was very fortunate🙏

Matron, How long does it take for the anti inflammatory tablets to work before seeing results for the swelling? I am taking Ibuprofen. And how many mg?

Have you heard of turmeric tea? Have a Google, it's anti inflammatory and natural
