I have this thing happen to me just about everyday that I call a “hot flash.” It has been going on for probably about 12 years. It’s become more and more frequent over the years, sometimes happening 2 and even 3 times in a day, but typical just once.
The feeling, to my best abilities, can be described as a suddenly hot sensation with a lot of bloating. I will almost always sweat excessively from my lower back on down (not naturally a sweating type). This is often paired with really throaty, continuous burps and/or sometimes hiccups.
As far as when/what triggers this physical response often is dependent on the time of day and my thought process. Basically if its afternoon/evening I am susceptible if I feel awkwardness, discomfort, guilt, shame, embarrassment, or uselessness. Sometimes social situations brings these feelings to surface, but it can also happen if I’m simply alone with my own thoughts. I am highly convinced that simply the wrong stray thought can cause these symptoms to be set off, and then I’m left to deal with the physical effects for anywhere from 3-5 hours thereafter.
My physician has no idea what could be the cause. I’ve had a GI doc scan inside me with no results. My psychiatrist has tried many antidepressants with zero results as well…
Any suggestions or relative experience much appreciated!
