Dark spot on eye years after cataract surgeries

I was likely born with cataracts, but my parents didn't notice a change in my vision (or demeanor, I guess, because I was so little I couldn't tell them what was going on. My mom said all of a sudden I was scared of the bathtub and always had to have a hand on her so I knew where she was at all times), when my dad noticed my right eye was turning in. They took me to several doctors before they realized I had cataracts. I had my first two surgeries to remove the cataracts at 8-9 months old, an eye muscle surgery at 3 that left me nearsighted and with a slight lazy eye. I wore speciality contacts until I was about to start high school and then had two lens implant surgeries when I was 14. I still have to wear glasses to help with the nearsightedness and I get a yearly checkup just to make sure my vision hasn't changed. When I was in my second year of college, I noticed a dark mark had formed on my right eye. It didn't seem to be affecting anything but I still got it checked out just to be safe. The eye doctor said it was nothing to worry about, that it was probably just from the surgeries years before. I've always been aware of it when I look in the mirror, but it doesn't really bother me. Lately I've been noticing a newer dark mark within the gray around it, and I think it's gotten bigger. My mom said it looks the same, but I tend to look at it more than she does. Has anyone with the cataract surgeries gotten any dark mark years later? Should I make another appointment just to be on the safe side?

To answer your second question: yes, but with a different ophthalmologist. It’s never a bad idea to get a second opinion.
