hi I live in the east of England how long have you all waited for the op I was told at the end of September it would be 18 weeks after waiting about 20 weeks I got a call say they where sending me to the nuffield if I was ok with that . That was 6 weeks ago . I got a call yesterday asking is the 1st of May of for the op I said yes please . That's still 6 weeks away so will be about 32 weeks in totally I have waited is the normal or did they lose me
Normal wait in NE England is 2-3 months, but I've been told that it depends on the 'pathway' (I'm guessing 'needs group' to which you're allocated.
I was on list for 15 months , yes months . Depends where you live . The waiting takes over your life .
Positive thing was that I was so relieved to be there that I wasn't nervous .
Hope it won't be too long and good luck
Oh little rogue smiley seems to have snuck in there!
I'm in East Yorkshire. I only waited 4 weeks from agreeing to surgery until I had my THR although it took them nearly 2 years to get them to agree that's what I needed.
Just hang in there....it will be worth the wait when you eventually get it done. You have plenty of time to prepare yourself. Good luck...keep us posted.x
I am in bedford and will be having mine on 9th April which will be 26 weeks I was warned my surgeon was popular and had long list. Good luck in May
That's quite a long wait. I was told maximum of 15 weeks from referral which it more or less was. I live in Surrey. Sounds like you may have been 'lost'. At least you date now. Good luck. Don't worry. It's all positive .
Hi carol
I am also in east of England and it took 18 weeks from consultants appointment, but 18 weeks to see consultant from gp referral.
It does seem to be a longer wait than a lot of other places in the country.
It is the worse time when lots of the hospitals have had orthopaedic ops stopped as they were low priority compared to other life threatening problems, then we had a lot of black alerts which stopped all ops and the NHS in east of England all missed their waiting time targets.
I rang consultants secretary and asked for cancellation appointment which I got but was then cancelled itself twice, hence I was sent to private hospital, worth waiting for.
I think we've passed the worse now so hopefully no more delays for you and enjoy the Nuffield.
I totally agree with Mary I felt the same, not so nervous just glad to finally have the op.
I think you may have been left as you didn't contact them and maybe others did.
Hello Carol, I am in south west (dorset) and had my right THR last July - from GP referral to see consultant was 10days and then from seeing consultant I waited 12 weeks - I was offered private on the 'choose & book' system (BMI Winterbourne). Hang on in there it will be well worth it.
Regards
Arthur
I did phone them a few times first time got told I was looking at jan then was going to be February then in February got a call about going to the Nuffield
Oh no that is even worse than Norwich then, where are you carol ?
I waited about 18 months from consultation to operation. Good job i was able to carry on working, going six weeks on ssp will be hard enough! Infact probably i'll get a lift in as soon as i can get around without crutches. be two weeks off as of monday. Oh well least im on road to recovery
Cambriidge addenbrokes hospital
Ah that explains it, i think addenbrookes was the worse hospital in the eastern counties for missing its targets and I think Norwich was next.
Anyway you have date now which is the main thing and soon you'll be able to put all the pain and problems behind you.
Good luck.
This happened to me but in Leicestershire to get the waiting lists down they have a contract with private hospital Nuffield in Leicester and send cases there, this is where I had mine done, I would have waited longer if I had gone through Leicestershire Partnership Trust and not University Hospitals of Leicester. However it is nice to have hindsight
